I don’t necessarily put it on her because they were seriously understaffed. Getting noticed by our waitress was a challenge. On Friday nights they have live music, so the patio was a bit loud with people trying to keep conversations going on top of the music. The patio has plenty of seating-high tops and regular height tables. Never in a million years would I have thought this restaurant had this type of space in the rear.
The hostess proceeded to walk us through the restaurant (not very big) and walked us to a very large patio area out back. Given the nice breeze that evening, we opted for outdoor seating.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the hostess, who asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. Based on the reviews and seeming popularity, I made a reservation. I bit the bullet and decided to try Old’s Havana on a Friday night. We will be going back to Old's Havana next year and every year when we return to Miami.My Cuban food standards are pretty high, so I’m always a little apprehensive about trying out a new Cuban restaurant. Since arriving in Miami some 2 weeks ago, we haven't had a single meal where the food was good, the service was good and we didn't have to wait a long time for a table. There was a strolling guitar player, singing Cuban songs - a great touch. We had an assortment of beef, fish and chicken entrees and all were excellent. If you have a good sized party, I recommend the appetizer sampler. Drinks, appetizers and our dinners were all delicious. Our waitress was excellent, giving us suggestions and displaying excellent knowledge of the menu. We came back at the appointed time and, yes our table was ready. Alex took us to the back, where they have a nice outdoor covered area, to show us the table he could give us - he warned us that we might be a little tight for 8 and that there would be a party of 13 right next to us.
We stopped at Old's as we were wandering through Little Havana this afternoon to see if we could get a reservation for 8 people an hour later.
